Two miles warm up, six miles at 6:20 pace and half a mile cool down. Average heart rate 158 bpm. This will be the last speed workout before the San Francisco Marathon on July 29th 2018. It went well considering a calf pull a few weeks back. This puts me somewhere around a 3 hour 15 min marathon result if all goes well.
If my annoying calf strain fixes itself before July 29th, I will be running The San Francisco Marathon for the 10th time. I have run marathons in a few other cities but nothing beats a run across the Golden Gate Bridge in the morning.
The 2018 course has some new twists and turns that I have not seen in the past. The climb to the start of the Golden Gate Bridge is new and so is the turn around an the other end. I am a bit of a data nerd for this marathon as I have years of personal tracker info that I use to create my annual pace notes.

I liked the look of this Blade Runner scene and just started painting my own version. A few days in I thought I might abandon it for something simpler, but glad I battled through. Next time I really must get the geometry 100% dialed in before painting any detail.

This level of finish was not really what I planned to do and I might give it another go where I try to force a one hour version instead of the sixty hours I spent here.
Halfway though this project I found a 24HD Cintiq, with a broken stand, on ebay for $450 – bargain. It also has failing backlight tubes so I have to keep it on 24/7 as it needs to be warm or it will not light up. A heat gun worked to get it going the first time. Look out for ‘tube replacement’ as a future project..
